Our Top End Educational Program delivers an immersive, curriculum-aligned exploration of Northern Australia’s tropical environments, bringing Science, Geography and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures into a real-world context. 

Moving through Kakadu, Nitmiluk and Litchfield National Parks, students engage with ancient rock art and cultural narratives, examine the diversity of wetlands, savanna, and monsoon forest ecosystems, and unpack the geological forces that have shaped dramatic escarpments, gorges and waterfalls. 


Wildlife encounters and time in the field are enriched by discussions on seasonal patterns, fire management and the balance between conservation and land use.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Darwin → Kakadu National Park

  • Arrival in Darwin and travel along the Arnhem Highway into Kakadu

  • Stop at wetlands for introduction to floodplains, seasonal change (wet/dry), and biodiversity

  • Corrobbee Billabong Wildlife Cruise

  • Visit Bowali Visitor Centre for orientation and interpretation displays

  • Ubirr to see First Nations rock art

  • Evening reflection: field journals and wetland ecosystem observations

Day 2: Kakadu

· Barramundi Gorge

· Journey to southern end of park to Gunlom Falls

· Short, guided walks exploring sandstone escarpments and geological formations

· Swim at Moline Rockhole

· Journey onto Litchfield National Park campsite


Day 3: Litchfield National Park → Darwin

  • Visit Wangi Falls and/or Florence Falls

  • Study monsoon forest ecosystems, water cycles, and seasonal flows

  • Stop at Magnetic Termite Mounds to investigate animal behaviour, adaptation, and thermoregulation.

  • Return to Darwin

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking at least 6–12 months in advance, particularly for peak travel periods. This ensures availability of accommodation, transport, and key experiences.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. We can accommodate a wide range of dietary needs, including allergies, vegetarian/vegan diets, and religious requirements. Please advise us in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.

What accommodation is provided?

We offer a range of accommodation options suited to student groups, including comfortable hostels, private campsites, and higher end options . All properties are selected for their safety, quality, and suitability for school travel.

What level of supervision and safety measures are in place?

Safety is at the core of every program delivered by Adventure Educational Tours. We take a proactive and structured approach to risk management to meet our strict safety and operational standards.


Our experienced guides play a critical role in ensuring student wellbeing. All Adventure Educational Tours guides hold current Working With Children Checks (WWCC), are certified in First Aid, and are trained in driver safety and fatigue management, along with additional relevant qualifications.

We do not typically include flights as part of our package, however, please indicate if required as we may be able to assist.
