  • Accompanying our biology programmes and tours are the Ecosystem Guide Books. The first in the series, "Rainforest of tropical Australia", has now been released as a second edition. The second in the series "Ocean Surfaces of Australasia" is also available. Plants

Fungi
Fungi actually belong to a completely different kingdom from the animals and the plants and are not particularly related to either. There are thought to be about 250,000 species of fungi in Australia, and thus they far outnumber the regular vascular plants but most of these species are too small to be noticed.

Mammals

Gliders
Gliders are usually grey or brown in colour, with a bushy tail and a darkish stripe on the back that often extends to the forehead. They are referred to as the ‘wrist–winged gliders’, as most have a loose flap of skin between the wrist and ankle on the same side.
