Geckos belong to the family Gekkonidae. They are mainly nocturnal lizards with long limbs and large eyes. Most of the native species are very cryptic species and the most commonly seen gecko is an introduced species. The introduced 'South East Asian Gecko' is seen around the outside and inside of buildings in the tropics of Australia (right). It's call is a series of high pitched 'tch,tchk,tchk,tch', like little knocking
